What qualifies you as a home watch manager?

Who is the best home watch company on Cape Cod?
Beyond the obvious answer, there are a number of viable options available. While gushing endorsements and pre-existing relationships are factors, when seeking out your provider, look for relative experience, the depth of resources and confirm whether or not the provider is properly licensed, bonded and insured which at a minimum acknowledges that the provider understands the requirements of the industry they are engaged in.
Does home watch on Cape Cod require a license?
Often confused as a license, Massachusetts requires a watch guard certification issued by a division of the MA State Police. The process begins with the endorsement of three references, securing a bond and a live interview. Going forward, this certificate is renewed annually base in part on a refreshed background check. Do you have lawn signs?
No. From a homeowner’s perspective, there is zero upside to signaling the home is seasonal, hence the service, and by extension unoccupied with any consistency. Rather than a deterrent such as an ADT placard signaling the likelihood of a traditional alarm system, the alternate purpose is to identify properties for employees who may not be familiar with home or simply that of marketing.
Are you insured?
Specific to home watch, Nauset Management maintains a surety bond, necessary to secure the MA watch guard certification, a dishonesty bond, general liability insurance as well as professional insurance which speaks more to theft and third party interaction verses the traditional slip and fall category assigned to general liability.
Would you submit to a background check?
Annually. As a byproduct of renewing watch guard certification, the MA State Police conduct a refreshed background check.
Do you offer year-round service?
Yes. Many customers inside of a 6 hour drive who make random runs to the Cape find it easier to exercise a year round schedule and simply suspend service during occupancy where, upon notice, the check is waived, and the corresponding fee is prorated from the monthly invoice.
Is home watch the same as home security?
Often classified as such, where assuring a home is secure, security is better suited for a traditional hard wired alarm service or any number of wi-fi dependent DIY systems.
